your shadow comes back

My mother lived a long and, I think, rewarding life. I always knew she loved me with all her heart, as she did all her family: children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others. In fact, we were her heart.

The last time I saw her, just a couple of weeks before she passed away on March 9th, she looked into my eyes, smiled, and poured all that love right back into my heart.

I am missing my little Annabelle, and we are missing our dear Gig.

  2. I am so sorry for your losses. My dear kitty Chloe passed in November, and now my own Mom is failing, too. I feel your pain, and send you virtual hugs, cups of tea, and warm cranberry walnut bread.

  3. I had been wondering why your blog had been silent lately. I am so sorry for your losses. Losing a parent hurts deeply. I lost my mother in 1976 and my father in 2000. I still miss them and their counsel even if I wouldn't agree with it. My sixteen year old cat died in March. He was such a good friend. I'm sure that Annabelle stayed by your side in both sickness and health. She will be missed. Take care and take time for grieving.Cheryl

  4. I am so sorry for your losses. What comforted me most after the deaths of my parents was finding the quirky ways in myself that I am like them – my father's smile, my mother's warped sense of humor (actually, my father's sense of humor was pretty warped, too), having a friend tell me I have my mother's voice. Small, but very warm comforts.

  5. Oh, Jane. My heart is with you. I lost my mom back in 1991. I can still feel the sadness but now I mostly remember the happy times and what a truly good person she was and how much I learned from her. What a difficult spring this has been between the loss of your mother and sweet Annabelle. I hope you are feeling surrounded by the love of your many friends (even if we have not had the pleasure of meeting you in person).Elizabeth
