What a surprise, finding myself a Blogger Blog of Note today! I’m honored, but slightly uncomfortable. Yes, this is a public space, and yes, many anonymous readers stop by … but somehow, anyway, right now, I feel a little exposed.
You see, I think of myself as a knitblogger. I’m part of a large and wonderful community of people who share my passion, and I’m blessed to have made many friends, both real and virtual, in this relatively small corner of the big old internet. But here, today, the doors have been flung wide open!
My blog and my life seem to be defined by what is going on right now — cancer treatment and navigating the strange terrain of it, and getting on with it — but when I seek to define myself cancer isn’t at the top of the list.
So: I’m a knitter. I’m a spinner. I’ve made many pairs of socks, and whatever else that has inspired me. I love yarn. I design knitting patterns once in a while. I’m a bookseller, too. I live with that cat, in a little apartment near the Atlantic Ocean. I go to the water as often as I can, to refill and be and look out at the horizon. I’m a middle child. Sure, I have cancer. I also have a good life that’s on the way to getting better.
There. I feel better now. Welcome everyone!

And you are a lover of books, too, a fan of the two “R’s”, someone who appreciates delicious fruit deserts and spring blooms and seasonal changes. You are definitely, most definitely NOT defined by cancer.

It’s a delightful blog! My mum’s a knitter and my wife is a crocheter. (The latter terms looks very, very wrong but I’m sure it is correct.)

Congratulations on your selection–Your blog is a gracious space! And congratulations on finishing your chemo. I finished mine ten years ago last month. (BC; chemo + radiation + more chemo, followed by tamoxifen and arimidex). Enjoy your world. Walk, and celebrate each day of growing strength.

I try to not read “stranger’s” blogs, but yours, being the blog of note, kind of jumped out at me. I’m really glad it did. It seems as if life has thrown you some bitter lemons…and you have decided to turn it into some sweet lemonade! You strike me as a very peace-filled and grateful woman. Thank you for sharing a piece of your heart. It brought a little bit of sunshine to mine today. :o) Also, your picture of the kitty basking in the glow of the lamp was incredible! :o)

Hi Jane, I must say you’re such an inspiration.I don’t live close to the sea and I can’t see the sky as often as I should like. I don’t have a pet and I can’t reach all the green beautiful things nature has to offer us, but reading your posts, filled with peace and a sort of patience-like way of seeing things around makes me feel like, as you posted earlier, quoting Anne Porter…Their [your words] dewy sparksTheir brimming drops of lightSo fresh so clearThat when you look at themIt quenches thirst.I’m glad I found you here

Your story and perspective are inspiring. (Your knitting too. (wistful sigh) (wry grin))I read back awhile. Grace, strength, and love abounds. I saw the preference for privacy so I’ll not tarry long in the conversation I’ve invited myself into – just for a moment. Purrs to yourself and Annabelle. Blessings, health and healing to you and your circle of loving friends and family.

Searching for knitting stuff for a friend and found your blog. I’m not much of a knitter myself – though I have tried. But I do admire those that have mastered this craft. What made me stop was your reference to your battle with cancer. As a cancer survivor, I just wanted to pass on some encouragement and tell you not to give up but have faith that you can deal with this.
