Ten Things to Bring on a Camping Trip:
That’s easy. 1-10.:A hotel room.
The last time I went camping was when I was eleven, and my mother (the Girl Scout leader) made me camp out in our back yard with the troop for the weekend, I think so she could convince me of the joys of being a Girl Scout. It didn’t work. I don’t remember much (it was 44 years ago), but I do remember wanting to go inside to read the Sunday comics, and she said No. The whole thing was weird, anyway, because we were so completely not an outdoorsy/camping kind of family in the first place. I’ll bet my mom felt like an alien, out there in the wilds of Bethesda, thirty yards from the house.
Camping isn't for everyone! I like a nice hotel room, too, but I do enjoy camping once or twice a year.

My thoughts – almost exactly 😉 I do enjoy getting out – I just also enjoy not hauling everything with me and taking a shower and having a nice bed. (The lights and gadgetry I could live without. The running water, not so much.)

I'm not a very accomplished camper. I like a nice shower and a real bed. But I love to walk all day away from it all. A nice condo on a lake maybe where I could get out in the canoe during the day, but then come "home" to cook dinner and hang out on comfortable upholstery.

LOL! Jane, you're just like me. Camp? Huh??? My idea of roughing it is a nice cabin with a screened in porch where you can take in all the nature stuff. 😉

I like the idea of camping. Just not the actual camping.

Benefits of hotel over camping I agree! Fewer bugs (at least you hope so!)

I like the thought of camping.. and have an old RV that I've been trying to sell… but a tent? on the ground? in the woods? hmmmmm… I think I'd prefer a 4 star hotel.

Camping is wonderful! And you don't really have to rough it at all! We always have down comforters, and pillows, and an 18" air mattress!!! And we have little dressers with zippers too. And, the best of all, we have a remote control light for our tent. How about coming camping with us, Jane?Louise

Camping? My dear, I am sure you mean the Holiay Inn as opposed to say the Venetian (all suites!) in Las Vegas? I am with you -honestly, I just never saw the point. What about all the serial killers that (I am sure) lurk in the woods??! Your 1-10 is mine too!KnittingKittens

My mother had a friend who defined camping as "staying at the Waldorf with NO room service" It's one of my favorite quotes.
