Days like this are why I’m glad I have a place where I can walk indoors. Its been rainy and weeeendy.
So, knitting is taking place. A swatch of something, a few rows on a hat, and a surge toward the finish line on the shawl. I’m not as focused as I thought I was; apparently all you have to do is show me a pretty skein of plump wool, and I’ll follow you anywhere.
I’ve been visiting Judy’s mother a few mornings a week, and it’s a good time to just sit and be. She’s usually in the day room, along with some of the other residents, so I get to listen to their comings and goings. Today, I overheard this exchange between two women:
How are you today?
— Not so good.
Aren’t you happy today?
— No, I’m not.
Look at me, I’m happy. Not really, but I pretend I’m happy. Sometimes you’ve got to make believe.
Well, that puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
